Once again thank you to all who attended our ISSA groups first ever event for 2009. It was a success and we look forward to there being more to come.
We invited James Baird to come and speak at KSU and he spoke on security awareness. To say that his presentation was creative as well as informative would be somewhat of an understatement. I believe that we as potential or working security professionals take our jobs to be boring, or even a bit serious at times. The presentation sent the message to me that you not only have to relay your security message to end users in a fun and constructive manner but you also have to do it in a way as to get their attention.
I will be the first to admit that when James first began his presentation I had absolutely no idea where he was going with it, and somehow he made it from chinese food all the way to relating it to "defense in depth" in one very interesting manner.
For those of you who were not able to attend I hate that you did not, because as security professionals at times it's hard to sit back and relate things on a day to day basis, and that was an important lesson that was taught. Overall the event was a success, and I couldn't have been happier. See you at the next event!!!!!
